ArtVendome: Artist in Residence

From the Hotel’s inception, artists have been making their way to the Vendome for rest, refuge, and inspiration. Tom Mix, legendary silent movie star of nearly 300 movies, lived at the hotel in the 1920s while he filmed his western movies in the surrounding areas. Since then, the Hotel has been a destination over the years for artists of all types including authors, poets, photographers, musicians, actors, and designers.  As we embark on our next 100 years, we are launching ArtVendome, an Artist in Residency program to bring art to the forefront of our hotel’s history and community.

Hotel Vendome is located downtown and within walking distance to galleries, museums, restaurants, and bars.  Known as Arizona’s Hometown, Prescott sits up at 5,200 feet and is surrounded by mountains, lakes, forest, outdoor beauty, and fresh air.  We believe the hotel’s history, charm, and presence along with the abundance of outdoor access will inspire artists from all over the world. We hope to inspire and support you as you continue your growth as an artist.

The Residency

The Artist in Residence (AIR) program is a 1 to 3 month program where emerging artists are invited to stay at the hotel to create and showcase their work to guests and locals.   This is a great opportunity for an artist to display their work with no limit on the artist’s medium of choice. Each AIR will be given free accommodation for the duration of their residency in return to take part in the program.

Details and Goals

  • Time - Give the residency necessary attention and be accessible for events and duties.

  • Living Space - Hotel Vendome will provide a private room & bathroom to the artist to live/work.  The room will have a bed, wifi, fridge, microwave, desk/table and chair.
